Top Gun 2: Bottom Gun?

Liked the action Tom Cruise of “Knight and Day,” but missed the homo-erotic tension? Well, Hollywood is apparently still kickin’ around the idea of a sequel to the film, hot on the heels of the 1986 blockbuster.

In a piece written in the MTV Movie Blog, “Top Gun” producer Jerry Bruckheimer admitted that the thought of a sequel has long since been a subject of conversation, even with Cruise taking a stab and pounding balls on the beach for another go-round.

Of course, aside from the ageless Cruise, many of the cast members have, um, not progressed quite as gracefully. Not to be so superficial, but shall we take a look at some of the photographic proof?

Ice Man (Val Kilmer):

Goose (Anthony Edwards):

‘Charlie’ Blackwood (Kelly McGillis):

Should the Highway to the Danger Zone soon expect traffic?

  1. I don’t know maybe if they can get Val back on the treadmill, get Anthony a kick ass hairpiece and give Kelly a little bit of lift in all areas and photoshop each frame with her in it we got ourselves a decent B- movie. 🙂

  2. Goose actually looks pretty good for a corpse! Unfortunately, the extra pounds on Val Kilmer mean he’ll have to stay aboad the ship otherwise the planes won’t get off the tarmac. I’d say Kelly McGillis still looks pretty good for her age! Do we need Top Gun 2 – no, we’ve already had it – it was called Days of Thunder and switched wings for tires. Jerry – give us something original!

  3. I prefer a sequel along the lines of Same Time, Next Year, where Maverick and Iceman bid adieu for a few days to their Naval Officer positions, find a nice cabin away from it all and engage in their own version of one-on-one volleyball where there’s less a net than set of high thread count satin sheets. Kilmer’s paunch makes for a hilarious breakfast in bed scene.

    • I can just see Maverick waltzing in the door with a stack of hotcakes and bacon on a tray…”You never close your eyes/ anymore when I kiss you liiiiips…”

      • I am kicking myself for not making that reference. Although, equally funny would be a pudgy Iceman giving the teeth clamp on a strawberry, 91/2 Weeks-style.

  4. Looking at those photos depressed me.

Father Time sure is an a-hole.
